Hidden Treasure

As I mentioned in my last post (Unlikely Places), my brother is getting married and that has precipitated the search for an amazing outfit to wear to said wedding. After finding the perfect dress, I was in need of an amazing statement necklace. While searching the web in vain for a necklace that was the perfect mix of bold yet dainty, I stumbled upon this hidden treasure.

Ayana Designs creates modern necklaces with a vintage feel. Each piece is hand-made and absolutely stunning. The attention to detail as well as the mix of colors, materials and textures make for little treasures that will bring you years of joy. Each piece can be worn dressy or casual, the sky’s the limit! My best friend is a major beauty junkie and she recently shared a few of her favorite must-haves with me. Included in my box of beauty goodies was a tube of First Aid Beauty’s Ultimate Repair Cream. It is beyond amazing at quenching dry skin!

Just one little dab and any dry skin vanishes, leaving soft, smooth and glowing skin. It also works great when added to your daily lotion to maintain moisturized skin. My legs get so dry in the summer from the heat and constant use of self-tanners but this cream combats the dryness. Add this to your shopping cart next time you are browsing

Available in a tub ($28) or an on-the-go tube ($12). Put one on your bathroom counter and one in your purse.

Hello Sunshine

Spring is in the air and Kate Spade’s new website is full of sunshiny staples to brighten your spring. Kate Spade’s newest collection is full of charm and whimsy, harkening back to the early days of Kate Spade when it was full of elegant, classic and covetable purses, shoes and accessories. I am loving the bright pops of yellow mixed with linen on shoes and handbags and feminine outfits. Happy Spring!

The perfect spring tote, also available in pink and orange.

A sweet evening bag that will brighten up your favorite LBD.

I need these shoes! They will look incredibly chic with skinny, cropped white jeans and loose summery skirts. Also available in pink.

What is more cheerful than a silk, cotton skirt in sunshine yellow?

An incredibly sweet cardigan in bright yellow pops against white and chocolate.

Label Love: Vince Camuto

I went shoe shopping last night and bought my fourth pair of Vince Camuto heels. It is now safe to say, I am a “super fan” of Vince Camuto!

They are trendy, unique, relatively comfortable and reasonably priced. They look much more expensive and high-end. I am always shocked when I flip the display over and see an amazing price.

None of this should come as a surprise since Vince Camuto was a co-founder of Nine West and it’s creative director for many years. He was instrumental is growing Nine West to the company it is today. He also colloborated with Tory Burch to launch her amazing footwear collection which includes the iconic “Reva” ballet flats.

Haute Couture on a Budget

Can you guess the designer of this dress?

Dolce & Gabbana was the first name that popped into my head when I saw this dress. It’s dark, gothic yet feminine print, sexy tiered fitted silhouette and luscious lace trim make it look like it just stepped off the runway and into my waiting arms. But lucky for me and my budget it is not made by Dolce & Gabbana and does not carry the hefty price tag that comes with a haute couture runway confection. It is actually available for $198 at White House Black Market, an absolute steal as far as I am concerned! If you have ever wanted to own a Dolce & Gabbana frock but can’t afford it’s $2,000 price tag, run don’t walk (this dress will sell out fast) to and order this dress.

Gimme Some Sugar

With Memorial Day, the official start to summer, fast approaching it is time to start buffing and polishing my legs and feet to perfection so they will look great in short skirts and flip flops. I am a devoted self-tanner user and if you, like me, prefer tan in a bottle over tan from the sun you know how very important it is to use an exfoliating body scrub prior to slathering on your self-tanner of choice.

This season I have decided to try an old favorite of beauty addicts in the know, Fresh Brown Sugar Body Polish. It is the original, all natural sugar exfoliant that leaves your skin supremely soft after just one use. It blends brown sugar crystals with four precious oils of evening primrose, sweet almond, apricot kernel, and jojoba that nourish the skin and deeply moisturize dry areas. It also contains ginseng root extract and peppermint to invigorate the senses and revitalize skin cells as well as calendula to calm and soothe the skin. Citrus oils are also included to brighten and tone the skin while leaving behind an unforgettable natural scent.

This scrub leaves your skin so very soft and smooth, the perfect primer for your favorite self-tanner. You will instantly become addicted to this body polish (as will your significant other when he feels your skin) and reach for it everyday! Available online at and

Go Natural

It seems that my eyelids have decided to revolt against all the nasty chemicals makeup manufacturers put in their eyeshadows. No matter what brand I have tried from expensive (Bobbi Brown) to cheap (CoverGirl) seems to make my eyelids red and irritated at the end of the day.

I had almost given up being able to wear eyeshadow, until I read the customer reviews on Sephora’s website about Josie Maran Cosmetics. One customer wrote that she had the same problem I have and that Josie Maran eyeshadows did not irritate her skin. I immediately dropped two eyeshadows (Beach and Pewter) into my shopping cart and eagerly awaited them to arrive. I have used them for over two weeks now and they work beautifully without causing any irritation. The eyeshadows are vibrant, velvety and easily glide on and stay put.

Josie Maran Cosmetics was formed with the idea of creating innovative formulas that use natural, non-toxic ingredients without parabens and fragrances in their cosmetics. They also do not do any animal testing and much of their packaging is biodegradable and recyclable. I am certainly a fan and plan to order more of her products! You can purchase Josie Maran Cosmetics online at and

Five For Five: Piperlime

For day five of my five stores, five days and five must haves I decided to mix it up a bit and bring you five awesome pairs of shoes from Piperlime. Piperlime is one of my all time favorite online shoe stores that also carries a great selection of trendy clothing labels. One can waste many a hour perusing the great merchandise at

Go global for spring with these gladiator style sandals. The basket weave detail provides an interesting texture and the brown and cream color palette will work well with spring’s neutral colors.

There isn’t much to say about these shoes other than how cool are they?! The crochet detail will add style to jean capris and tees as well as complement more stylish skirts and dresses. The neutral color will also complement a wide range of colors.

These black and white t-straps are the epitome of lady like chic, cool and classic. They are the perfect go-to heels for a slew of spring and summer parties and weddings.

Wear your heart on your sleeve, or make that your feet with these quirky teal wedges. Fun, colorful shoes will breathe new life into your tried and true spring outfits from last season, even adding whimsy to your favorite little black dress.

I must admit I love high heels but for the most part I am a jeans (or my husband would argue black yoga pants) and tennis shoe kind of gal so no shoe wardrobe would be complete without a new pair of sneaks. These purple Pumas are fun and colorful and if the purple is too much they also come in a sophisticated mix of white and gold.

Five For Five: J Crew

J Crew is my go-to store when I need great basics and occasionally they have beautiful fashion pieces too. This season, I am sad to say, is not their best, but there are still some great pieces to be had that will serve you well this season. All pieces available online at

J Crew has a great selection of tees in a variety of styles and colors at great prices that you can add to your closet. This 3/4 sleeve henley is light and airy with a long silhouette. It gets dressed up by layered silk along the neckline and the pocket.

Utility chic jackets are a must have for spring and I love this silk taffeta riveter coat in sunshine yellow. Wear it on a rainy day to put a little spring in your step. If the yellow is too bright for you, it also comes in a pale pink. The color and fabric make it a little more elegant than other safari/utility jackets.

I love mixing casual pieces with elegant items to create an unusual, yet stylish pairing. This metallic jacquard silk skirt is perfect to pair with a tee and sandals but will also work perfect in a pinch for a dressier event when paired with a silk ruffled blouse and heels. The color is warm and buttery and looks like you are wearing liquid gold.

J Crew’s jewelry collection continues to impress each season and this layered, jumbled ribbon necklace looks like it was pulled from a Paris flea market. This stunning necklace can be worn with anything and everything to add a dash of bold exuberance.

I would be lost without J Crew’s flip flops. They are easy to wear and oh so simple and chic. This leather pair accented with a suede flower will look equally at home with shorts, jeans, wide leg trousers, skirts and dresses.
