Have You Met Kate?

If you are a fashionista you are probably quite familiar with Kate, as in Kate Spade. The original creator of one of the first “it” bags, the nylon, boxy Sam bag seen on the shoulders of many a fashionable woman in the 90’s. Since then the company has faltered and stagnated a bit but thanks to new creative director Deborah Lloyd (by way of Banana Republic and Burberry) it seems to be roaring back to its rightful place of high fashion.

Kate Spade just debuted its clothing collection and it is beyond fab! It is chocked full of trendy, mod pieces that can easily be mixed and matched adding a touch of drama and elegance to your wardrobe. The new shoes for fall are gorgeous and the handbags and jewelry are worth a look. Reacquaint yourself with the new Kate at www.katespade.com.

Buy Now, Wear Now And Later

Summer sales are in full swing and quite frankly I am tired of all the summer merchandise and eagerly awaiting the first hits of fall merchandise to make their glorious way onto the racks and shelves of my favorite stores.

However, due to the fact it is still summer, you can’t really get the same satisfaction of buying something you can’t quite wear yet, but if you are clever enough to buy a pair of new fall shoes that can be worn now and later, you will instantly have smooth satisfying retail therapy endorphins running through your body. If you are in need of a shopping hit make your way to Dillard’s and scoop up a pair of Gianni Bini’s Taylor heels.

They are perfect because they are basic enough to be worn all year long but also very trendy with their platform sole, chunky high heel and bondage criss crossed leather straps, all hallmarks of what’s in for shoes this fall. They will look equally as cute with tan brightly polished toes or dark stockinged feet peeking out from the peep toes. As an added bonus they are actually very comfortable, there is a padded cushion at the ball of the foot and the platform provides great support for the 4 1/2 inch heel. Buy Now, Wear Now and Later! Available at www.dillards.com.

Jimmy Choo at H&M

H&M just announced that their next designer collaboration will be with Jimmy Choo. H&M said Jimmy Choo will unveil its collection in 200 H&M stores on November 14 and it will include shoes, handbags and a women’s clothing line to correspond with the accessories.

“We adore Jimmy Choo’s shoes and bags,” H&M’s Creative Designer Margareta van den Bosch said, adding it was the first time the company has collaborated with an accessory brand. “I like the way we have worked with clothes to accessorize the shoes and bags rather than the other way around,” she said.

Jimmy Choo co-founder and President Tamara Mellon said the brand would bring H&M “a sophisticated, fashion forward, accessible and glamorous collection.”

I am a huge fan of all things Jimmy Choo and am beyond excited to see their collaboration with H&M. If only there was an H&M store where I live or if only H&M would move with the times and open an online shopping site!

Cheap Trick Party Style

When I was on vacation I did my fair share of shopping and I noticed all the high end shoe designers embellished their shoes with satin and chiffon ruffles, bows and flowers. They were beyond adorable but I have a hard time spending money on something so novelty that I would probably only want to wear one season.

So, I was thrilled when Nine West sent me an e-mail containing this sexy yet sweet satin ruffle pair of heels. They are perfect to wear for the upcoming wedding season and will help save you money by jazzing up your tried and true little black dress you already own. At $79 they are far cheaper than the $500 plus dollar versions I saw in the designer boutiques. Available at www.ninewest.com.

In The Nude (Shoes)

Nude or tan shoes were all over the place in Las Vegas, in store windows and on the feet of very fashionable women and have also been popping up on many a celebrity. So what do all these women know that I don’t? Up until now I was always so so on tan shoes, kind of blah and kind of boring but I decided to give them a try and slipped my pedicured toes into a gorgeous pair of nude peep toe Christian Louboutin’s.

I stood up and wandered my way over to a full length mirror and wow I was hooked, I had to have them! They instantly made my legs look longer and sleeker. They also go with everything in my closet especially soft pastel colors that I refuse to wear white shoes with but are too soft for black or dark brown. Nude shoes also look sleek and sophisticated paired with black. If you have not jumped on the nude bandwagon I would highly recommend it, but when shopping for your pair look for styles with a 3 inch or higher heel (it helps lengthen the leg) and peep toes (keeps them from looking stuffy and adds a shot of color when your painted toes peek out). You will be surprised how much you will wear them!

The gorgeous Christian Louboutin’s that changed my mind about nude shoes (the red sole certainly helps). Available at www.footcandyshoes.com.

Public Service Announcement

Sunshine warmed air has begun to filter its way in, bringing with it the increasing appearance of flip flops. It never fails when the thermometer flirts with the 70’s, I see flip flops pop up on everyone. I love flip flops as much as the next person but I do not like seeing flip flops on un-pedicured feet so please, please do yourself and all of us a favor and get a much needed pedicure before you slide your feet into your favorite pair of Havaianas. Your feet have spent all winter cocooned in socks and boots and before they see the sun they need to walk their way to a salon or at least your own bathroom for a fresh set of painted toes.

Bath and Body Works True Blue Spa Toe The Line Smoothing Foot Scrub and Shea It Isn’t So Shea The Original Shea Butter Foot Cream help give you flip flop ready feet.

My current flip flop favorite from Tory Burch available at www.neimanmarcus.com.

Take Flight

Feathers are h-u-g-e for fall, you can see them embellishing everything from dresses to shoes, adding a light, airy and whimsical touch to dark heavy fall items. They are decadent and girly and I highly reccommend adding something feathery to your look this season.

If the thought of wearing clothes with feathers brings back memories of Big Bird, I suggest just adding a bit of feathers in the form of these adorable headbands. Headbands have made a resurgence thanks to the gals on Gossip Girl. Headbands instantly add polish to your look and a feathered headband adds polish and style. Check out these great websites to find cute feather headbands www.alexandani.com, www.plumashop.com, www.saksfifthavenue.com and www.urbanoutfitters.com.

Since I am a such a shoe addict, I found a gorgeous pair of flats embellished with feathers, available at www.jcrew.com.
