Optical Illusion

There is nothing easier than throwing on jeans and a cute tee and thanks to the popularity of graphic tees you could even look fashionable. Graphic tees have been around the block and are a bit overdone, (with the exception of a super cute tee that said “here comes trouble” that Ginnifer Goodwin wore in He’s Just Not That Into You, which is a great movie, but that being said she was wearing it as a pajama top, something I recommend doing with your graphic tees but I digress). Thanks to Paul Smith you can get the ease of throwing on a pair of jeans and tee while still looking trendy without wearing the aforementioned over done graphic tee.

Paul Smith’s illusion tees give the look of wearing a cardigan or lacey tank in one easy crew neck piece because the cardigan and tank are printed on the tee. There is even one that looks like a pair of sunglasses are hooked on to the collar of the shirt. Pure genius and absolutely adorable! Available at www.zappos.com.

I am a sucker for novelty tees and whenever I see one, I have to buy it. I guess, my obsession stems from the fact that I like to be comfortable. Novelty tees are perfect for me because they are first and foremost tees which makes them soft and comfy to wear and because they are novelty they have added details like buttons, ruching, trimmings, collars or interesting shapes that makes them more fashion forward than your basic tee. They pretty much go with everything in my closet making getting dressed a cinch. Taking into account all these factors and their ability to fulfill all my fashion needs, they may just be the most perfect creation.

My newest novelty tee obsession comes from J. Crew, the gurus of fashionable basics. Their Tuxedo Front Top, available in black, white and champagne is made out of super soft lightweight cotton with a woven tuxedo front and cuffs. It has a loose easy fit and can be worn slouchy with khakis and jeans or paired with slacks tucked in with a big belt. This shirt is the perfect combo of comfy and stylish. It tends to run big so size down if you order it online. Available at www.jcrew.com.

Cheap Trick

It is a well known fact that I am tee shirt obsessed and spend way too much time searching for the perfect tee. One of my absolute favorites is the crew neck elbow sleeve tee by Zooey. I love the longer length sleeve because it looks a tad dressier that your basic short sleeve and can be worn with dress pants or skirts. The only problem with this tee is it’s price which is usually about $58, so you can imagine my sheer delight when Target’s Mossimo brand did an exact knock off for $8.99. Granted the fabric is not quite as buttery soft as the Zooey tee but the shape, fit and silhouette are exactly the same and with a buy in bulk worthy price. The Mossimo elbow sleeve crew neck tee is available at www.target.com.
